Mckinney Style (Part 1)
Welcome to the “streets” of Mckinney. When you think of people that work in advertising, you think three piece suits, skinny ties, shapely belted dresses and high heels- wait, that’s the wardrobe on Mad Men – Well, fast forward 40+ years and go south about 500 miles.

Kevin, 48 - Mckinney, (pitch wall) Durham NC
“This is my working for the weekend ensemble. The jacket, I like – Puma 1972 Olympics throwback. The shoes are Adidas that I bought in Raleigh when I was in Greensboro. Long story. The wall, metal. The rest, well, you know. Note the green tee shirt I used for layering. It celebrates a band called The Funatics. Name says it all.”

Wade, 51 – Mckinney (near studio) Durham NC
“I shop at Sears because no other gay man in town does. You can find fabulous ghetto fashion such as the LL Cool J jeans I’m wearing. And since my personality ranges from high to low throughout the day, I tend to layer. That way I can change it up whenever my mood swings. I was told this sweater vest looked like “lesbian wear,” but I’m used to being called names. The lesbian reference is a first. On the contrary, check out the Chuck Taylor’s. Name a lesbian who doesn’t know about Chuck Taylor?”

Maari + Meg, 29 – Mckinney (their office) Durham NC
“Our outfit is based on the fact that we spend most of our lives in the same 7 x 7 space. We cosmically connect in our respective houses in the morning and unconsciously put on the same clothes. Our look is comfort meets style meets Miss Cleo meets gesh we need some vacation.”

Talya, 26 – Mckinney (near project management) Durham NC
“Today, I’m cozy and I look like ass. I don’t keep up with magazines and high fashion because it’s for small people and I can’t afford. I like to have fun with outfits, depending on my mood.”

Raleigh, 30 (outside his office) Durham NC
“I have a simple equation with my style - Old school Shoes + New School Jeans + Surf brand Shirt. My style is based off hip hop meets the beach. I am wearing 90’s Nike Airmax, Hudson Jeans and an RVCA Tee with a hoodie.”

Lee, 38 (print production area) Durham, NC
“I tend to hold onto clothing forever, like this long underwear shirt from the 80’s. The sweater came from my fave store, Anthropologie. The skirt is from Express many years ago, and the boots were recently scored at Hong Kong Vintage in Charlotte.”
