Street Style

When you hear “street style” you don’t normally think of guys- well not guys with beards anyway. I’m here to change that. In the vast world of clothing and accessories men are unfairly looked over. The amount of effort one puts into their appearance, whether it’s dapper or casual, depends on the person, not the gender. I went downtown to hear a few bands last Thursday night at The Pour House and Tir Na Nog.

Here are few of the smartly dressed guys hanging around those parts:

Caleb, 25 – Blount St. Raleigh NC

“Tonight I’m wearing an American Apparel T, Triple 5 Soul windbreaker, baggy ass jeans, and clarks.”

Smitty, 31 – – Blount St. Raleigh NC

“The shirt has a great history. Got it in Richmond in 1995 at used uniform shop, so beyond my 13 years of wear (read on for the “great” part), some real man probably wore it before me while servicing some hot rods or sweeping some floors. The pants (1 of only 2 pairs I own) are a comfortable, target sale. Shoe’s are diesel, $15 at urban outfitters a coupla years ago (steal!). Muted tones, no logos, rarely any graphics.”

Cameron, 23 – Blount St. Raleigh NC

“My outfit is based on comfort. The cardigan is perfect for fall weather. I’m a huge fan of flannel which is why I guess I’m a huge fan of the fall: flannel shirts all the time. Also, it seemed appropriate with the beard. The jeans are Levi’s 514s, which are as comfortable as they come. The shoes were also chosen with comfort in mind.”

Josh, 24 – Blount St. Raleigh NC

“I’m not sure why, but I really like purple shirts. Other than that I wear pretty basic colors without patterns or designs. And I tend to wear no more than 4 different colors at a time. I also have a soft spot for a good polo.”

Matt, 31 – Blount St. Raleigh NC

“Bringing the pay phone along was a hassle but clearly an important accessory for the night. Other than that, my feet are covered in Reebok Classic Leathers circa what appears to be a time gap sometime in the last decade, being that I can’t find any record of their exact model anywhere. Moving up you’ll find jeans. Pretty standard. Shirt by thrift. Body by Jake.”

Mike Roy, 28 – Blount St. Raleigh NC

“My outfit tonight is a mix of comfort and style. The tightish pants, and button down shirt for style, the hoodie and Rockport shoes for comfort. Easy breezy beautiful, mike roy.”

Comments

Hahahaha…those boys always look chic (and being personally attached to a bearded man, I know they have a penchant for shoes). So sorry I missed the show, and great pictures!
