Inspiration: Ginna, Pittsboro, NC

I’m doing a new feature here on the blog where I ask different people around the state to list the things that are currently inspiring them. The first behind-the-scenes look is below. I hope you enjoy it.

Name: Ginna Earl
Occupation
: Jewelry Artist & Owner of Vespertine, a boutique in Pittsboro

At the moment the things that give me the most pleasure and the best ideas when i look at them or think about them are, in no particular order:
  1. Rocks.  esp. water smoothed ones
  2. Bare branches silhouetted against a winter sunset
  3. Art Nouveau, esp. Alphonse Mucha~ an incredible Czech artist whose use of nature, lovely flowing lines, and soft colors is truly enchanting.  i have a collection of Art Nouveau books that i know i can always flip through and be instantly inspired.
  4. In Rainbows“  the newest Radiohead recording.  So beautiful, so layered, so great to have playing while I’m doing tedious things. i can’t listen to this enough lately.
  5. Biographies of famous creative people.  i love reading about people who knew they had something unique about themselves and how they came to be well known. Recent favorites are “Chronicles vol. 1″ from Bob Dylan and “Home” by Julie Andrews~wonderful!
  6. Tiny leaves~esp. thyme, rosemary, ferns, little weeds.
  7. Handmade papers~  i could spend hours going through the Studio Supply‘s bins or Gallery Shibui’s amazing selection of japanese papers in Raleigh.
  8. Japanese gardens
  9. Antique china pattern
  10. All things tea and coffee related~tea pots, cups and saucers, little spoons, warmth, fragrance, neat little deserts…..  i also happen to live at Rosemary House Bed and Breakfast where we serve afternoon teas, lovely vegetarian breakfasts, and have rooms filled with wonderful colors and  antiques.
