Rock & Shop Street Style
I saw lots and lots of super cute stylish people at the Rock and Shop. And while I did work up the courage to ask a few complete strangers if I could photograph them (yay me) I didn’t ask as many as I would have liked. So be on the watch for me eyeing up and down with camera in hand and debate in my eyes. BUT, the ones that I did ask were complete sweethearts about it, i.e., didn’t make me feel like I was creepy. Not to mention looking a cute cut above the rest.

“I love fashion because of its limitless potential and ability to surprise. I like to hunt for treasures in thrift stores, and mix new clothes with vintage finds. I love big accessories, sparkly things and lots of color. I’m studying to become a fashion designer, so hopefully one day I’ll have my own clothing line!”

“I love the contrasts of the outfit–the whimsical skirt paired with the industrial black boots and denim jacket, as well as the muted greys with the pop of yellow in my scarf and bag.”

I don’t have a good “style quote”, but we do like our style. Both our wardrobes consists of shades of black, brown, green, varying textures, a little weathered and is pretty urban. No really shiny jewelry or really saturated color.

My basic fashion aim is “archival/librarian chic” while maintaining comfort avoiding frumpiness. I’ve had this blazer for 6 years now and I love it more each year. Corduroys are one of my staples, as are cardigans (I have one on underneath). I fight the urge to wear t-shirts and have been trying to invest in some nicer shirts (and by “investing” I mean buying stuff on sale). As for shoes, it’s comfort all the way. I bought these (my first pair of danskos) off of ebay; which sounds gross, but i promise they were clean. I wear glasses because 1) I’m too lazy for contacts and 2) I love wearing glasses.
If I could some it all up with a headline it’d be: Archivist strives for style, comfort, and smart-looky-ness.

I think this post is great. I loved reading it. I was also immediately sad that I don’t live close enough to Raleigh to have attended this event. Looks like one I’d enjoy!
Love your blog - thanks Indie NC!
