Honeybees By the Sea

There is a lot of talk in the eco-sector about vanishing honeybees. While it’s not true, as Bee Movie claims, the US would be plant pollination without the interesting little Italian cousins of our own native Blue Mason bee, we certainly benefit from their activity.
While so far no one has a solid answer as to why colonies are collapsing, there is plenty of speculation. Honeybees-by-the-Sea, a micro apiary in Morehead City, NC, is creating a honeybee heaven on earth.
Their approach is ecologically progressive, from using a frame design that naturally controls mite populations, experimenting with soil building techniques formed by Pre-Colombian Amazon Indians, and keeping their gardens strictly organic.
By keeping their bees happy and their land in balance, Honeybees-by-the-Sea offers small-batch farm goods made from the products of their bees, including candles (yes! even birthday candles!) and, of course, delicious local honey, all with a tiny carbon footprint.
