Mario Marzan

Mario Marzan is a painter, sculptor, video and installation artist currently teaching at UNC Chapel Hill. He was born in San Juan, and much of his work references his memories of Puerto Rico as well as the shifting landscape of his old home due to an increase in hurricanes. Mario writes, “my work responds to these changing landscapes, suggesting the storms’ power to alter not just the physical terrain, but also individual psyches and the broader cultures of affected areas.

In addition to his website, Mario now has a blog where you can learn about upcoming shows and see photos of his 2008 residency in Puerto Rico.
