Anna Podris

I have been a long time fan of Anna Podris’ paintings. Her current work incorporates oils and encaustics into dreamlike paintings that are rich in detail, pattern, and color. It’s easy to get lost in her surreal landscapes as you begin to discover the unexpected materials, such as fabric and flowers, sealed between the multiple layers of wax.

Anna maintains a studio at Artspace in downtown Raleigh. She shares her studio with her husband, and fellow artist, Keith Norval. If you aren’t able to get down to her studio you can still get a first hand look at Anna’s creative process by visiting her blog. On her blog Anna documents the various stages of creation that go into her paintings, and shares some of the techniques she uses in her art. Anna has also just recently opened an Etsy store where she will be selling small encaustic and oil paintings, as well as works on paper.

Absolutely gorgeous! What an interesting process.
