Inspiration: Allison Beale

abeale
Name: Allison Beale

Occupation: Owner, George Public Relations

  • The color Red.  My office, my master bathroom, a good portion of my wardrobe and my favorite shoes are all a shade of that brilliant color.
  • The Elements of Style by Will Strunk.  I live for the illustrated version.

  • My Grandmother Beale.  Her grace + style were never-ending and classic.  I miss her everyday.
  • My sister.  Her beauty, ability to care and strength continue to amaze me.  She’s my best friend.
  • For Like Ever.  Thank you very much to vllg.com for such an inspirational, hopeful saying and an even lovelier visual reminder.
  • Music. When I write, I always create a new playlist or turn on one of my old favorites.  In heavy rotation on my iPod are Frank Sinatra, The Rosebuds, Rilo Kiley, Cat Power, Bon Iver, Jay-Z and Passion Pit.
  • My two favorite cites – London and New York – are sources of endless information because of their energy and opportunity.
  • French style.  From dressing to décor, the French have a certain Je ne sais quoi.
  • Wallpaper’s city guides, particularly London, New York and Los Angeles.  A sleek, pocket-sized guide to killer cites from an incredible magazine.
  • The Sartorialist blog.  If ever there was a lookbook of street style, this is it.  It’s a daily read for me.
  • British Vogue.  More a book than a magazine, it showcases fashion first, as fashion books should.

  • Sleek, minimal packaging.  I love patterns and prints, but when it comes down to it I adore the elegant and simple.  A favorite package: Marvis Toothpaste.
  • Conscientious design and production.  Better to do it well and thoughtfully.  I’m a devoted (albeit new) fan of C TONICS and from start-to-finish their process is not only eco-friendly but their formulas are completely natural.
  • Poole’s Diner’s roasted chicken may be hands-down the best thing I’ve ever eaten.
  • Rubie Green’s “Mary” fabric.  It’s clean, elegant with a dash of sass that even the most demure hostess would approve.
  • Kate Moss for her confident, fearless approach to fashion and unabashed commitment to personal style.
  • Passionate people.  For me, inspiration also comes in the form of others who are inspired and passionate about their work, play, and life.  I’m fortunate to work with several who share a passion for life and make work part of their lifestyle like Gretchen Hollingsworth and David Duncan the creators of Paddywax, Ashley Christensen, chef/owner of Poole’s Diner, and Victor and Sarah Lytvinenko of Raleigh Denim.
