Animazement Indeed
Some friends of mine and I were having dinner at the Busy Bee/Hive in downtown Raleigh Saturday night and it was such a lovely night we decided to just walk around afterwards. We came across some Raleigh rickshaws and the three of us girls were very keen on being cycled through the busling streets. After convincing our guys in the group that they’d look super cool and not super lame being charioted by a guy smaller than the two of them, we were off. We decided the convention center would be a good drop off point since not everyone had gotten a good look at it since its completion and it would minimize the number of people seeing our guys squeezed side by side in a rickshaw. Getting closer to the convention center it became clear that it was a destination for many many people that night. And to my complete joy, it was a Japanese visual culture convention, Animazement. In short, anime, video games, J-rock & manga. If you’re familiar with the Fruits book (which i love) it was as if we had stepped into the pages. My only regret was that I was wearing possibly the most boring outfit I own and I didn’t want to use a flash so I used the high ISO feature which makes it really grainy.
