Inspiration: Christina Rentz

  • My Life in France by Julia Child
Julia had an amazing life and an even more amazing attitude. Nothing stopped her from achieving her dreams, and her adventurous, supportive husband is proof that love makes everything more fun!
  • Julian Koster of The Music Tapes & Neutral Milk Hotel
Julian is a grown-up who believes that grown-ups don’t have enough fun. Magic should be treasured and spread by those who still believe in it. There should be more people in the world like Julian who just want the world to be a brighter place filled with joyful games and fairy tales. Working with him has been one of the most rewarding parts of my eight years at Merge.
  • Best Week Ever / Go Fug Yourself
Two blogs that are always good for a chuckle and fulfill my love for celebrity gossip and fashion judgment.
  • The Onion AV Club
I love The Onion AV Club, especially the TV Club. Noel Murray’s Mad Men recaps made that already fantastic show even better, and their “Random Roles” feature is one of my “must-reads.” “The Hater” column is some of the best pop culture criticism going, too!
  • The Durham Public Library
I am a fairly voracious reader, and I love bookstores, but I only buy books that I know I will want to read again and again. The Durham Library has a convenient online catalog, wide variety of books to choose from, and eccentric staff who remind me of the librarians I knew growing up. I go at least twice a week.
  • ABBA
When I get blue or burned out or just need a little energy boost, it’s ABBA time!
  • Me by Katharine Hepburn
Katharine Hepburn presents her memoir as a collection of stories from her life. She doesn’t apologize, and she doesn’t feel sorry for herself. She had a genuine affection for people, and a charmingly matter-of-fact way of talking about her love life. Her sense of humor and self-awareness mixed with unadorned honesty make this book an engrossing read that stays with me.
  • Our house
My husband and I bought our first home last September, and we have fallen in love. We are constantly making plans and getting excited about things like foundation shrubs and closet doors. I never thought it would be so much fun, and having someone to share it with is the best part!
